Main physical properties:

Max continuous operating temperature ℃

200
Resistance temperature coefficient x 10-5/℃(20℃-600℃) <38
Thermovoltage to copper at 20℃ in μV/K 1
Thermal expansion coefficient ×10-6/K(20℃-400℃) 17.5
Thermal conductance at 20℃ W/mK 75
Specific heat capacity at 20℃ J/gK 0.38

Some key features of CuMn3 include:

  • Electrical Properties:

It has low electrical resistivity of 12.5 μΩ.Cm at 20°C and a relatively low temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) ranging from +280 to +380 ppm/K between 20 and 105°C.

  • Corrosion Resistance:

The oxide film formed on the surface of CuMn3 provides good oxidation resistance, which can extend the service life of heating elements.

  • Mechanical Strength:

CuMn3 wire exhibits good mechanical properties, with a tensile strength ranging from 290 MPa for larger diameters to higher values for smaller diameters.

  • Density:

The density of CuMn3 is approximately 8.8 g/cm³.

  • Chemical Composition:

The main components of CuMn3 include copper (about 85%-90%), manganese (2.5%-4%), and the remainder being nickel.

  • Processing Properties:

CuMn3 has good processing properties and can be made into various shapes of heating elements by various processing methods.

  • Resistivity:

The low resistivity of the alloy allows for reduced resistance in resistance wire under the same length and cross-sectional area, thereby reducing heating power and increasing efficiency.

These features make CuMn3/NC012/MC012/2.1356 an important material for applications requiring efficient energy transmission, corrosion resistance, and mechanical strength.

Applications:

  • Resistor Elements:

Due to its high electrical resistivity and low temperature coefficient, CuMn3 is used in the manufacturing of resistor elements, particularly for low-load, low-resistance resistors.

  • Marine and Offshore Engineering:

It is used in marine engineering, such as ship piping systems, offshore platforms, and seawater desalination equipment, benefiting from its excellent resistance to seawater corrosion.

  • Chemical Industry:

CuMn3 is utilized in the chemical industry for equipment that comes into contact with acidic and alkaline media, where it provides long-term stability.

  • Hydraulic and Instrumentation Systems:

Copper-nickel tubing, including CuMn3, is used in hydraulic and instrumentation systems for marine and offshore applications due to its resistance to saltwater corrosion, ensuring reliable operation.

  • Automobile and Aircraft Construction:

CuMn3 is used in intercoolers, oil coolers, and honeycomb radiators in the automotive and aerospace industries.

  • Brake Lines:

Some automobile manufacturers use CuMn3 for corrosion-resistant tubes in the production of automobile brake lines, and retrofit sets are available for various vehicle types.

  • Heat Exchangers:

CuMn3 is used in condenser tubes, tubes of final heaters, partition walls, and other parts of evaporator plants for fresh water production, especially where seawater is involved.

  • Pulp and Paper Mills:

The alloy is used in vessels, pipes, and fittings for pulps and liquids in pulp and paper production.

  • Food Industry:

CuMn3 is utilized in multi-stage evaporators, feedwater heaters, and processing lines in the food industry.

  • Gas Pipelines:

It is used for gas pipelines, especially for high-pressure oxygen and mobile hydrogen supplies, due to its non-permeability to hydrogen and fatigue strength.

These applications highlight the versatility and importance of CuMn3/NC012/MC012/2.1356 in industries where corrosion resistance, mechanical strength, and electrical properties are critical.
